Collection

You can pick up your order every other Thursday from 7-7:30 from 1000 Trades 16 Frederick St, Birmingham B1 3HE.

Please bring your own shopping bags.

Using the online shop

Here are some tips to ensure you get the most out of your shopping online.

1.  Click on the 'shop' tab above and select the option 'Thursday "' to see what is in stock this week and start shopping. It's a market so products change regularly.

2. Use the 'filters'. We have lots of items, so to quickly find what you are interested in you can use the 'filter by' categories on the top right hand corner of the screen eg 'dairy', 'vegetarian', vegetables etc. Be sure to unclick the filter when you want to browse a new category (filter).

3. If you want more than one item of anything, just click 'add' or increase the number from 1 to whatever you want.

4. You can check your basket and return to shopping as many times as you like.

5. When you checkout, you can do this as a guest, or open your own account, which means that future orders are very quick as all your details are saved.

6. Payment is through a safe online system called Stripe which is very secure. If we need to make a refund to you, this is done through the same system.

Note: our producers may have to substitute items to fill your order, they will be as similar as possible.

Slow Food Birmingham

Good, Clean & Fair Food for all

Slow Food is working to reconnect people to where their food comes from and inspire an active interest in local food production. Our Slow Food Birmingham volunteers bring farm to fork by letting you shop from the best local, seasonal produce.

We hope that a by-product of your engagement with slow food will be an education into the positive impact we can have on the environment and local economy.

Good food fund: no collection necessary

Slow food is buying directly from the farm and contributing to food parcels through the Food Justice Network.

You do not need to collect

Adopt a Tree: no collection necessary

Adopt a Tree is our new project to establish fruit and nut trees across our city.

You do not need to collect

We will be working with different groups across the city to plant trees. They will be gifted to schools, community gardens, and grow sites, with the aim that they will not only bear fruit for many people to enjoy, they will also play a vital role as we work to slow climate change; by absorbing CO2 and expelling fresh oxygen into the atmosphere, and helping to lower temperatures.

Join the Composting Exchange: collect or exchange your bucket at any time from 1000 Trades.

Bring back your full bucket each week and pick up an empty one. Please don’t forget your lid. Slow Food is working with Eat Make Play to create lovely organic compost for six Mother Gardens.

Composting is a natural process that transforms your kitchen waste into a valuable and nutrient rich food for the garden. We may not have our own growing spaces but we can be part of the growing community.

New research has found that almost half of the food waste in the average rubbish bin could have been composted. Composting is an aerobic process that reduces or prevents the release of methane during organic matter breakdown. The £15 is a “buy in” to support the project and covers the cost of the compost buckets. If you want to support someone else who can’t afford the bucket please just add an extra item in you shop. Please leave the buckets outside before you come into 1000 Trades. Collect a clean one with your order. You must return with the lid to maintain hygiene. This is an annual fee.
